The Junior Graphic Designer role advertised by Get Staffed Online Recruitment quickly caught my attention due to its focus on working within a collaborative design agency that produces content for the publishing industry. It offers the opportunity to work in a creative team while also developing professional skills in a fast-paced environment. The role emphasises both creativity and attention to detail, which is something I am very passionate about and strive to achieve.

The company’s work centres around producing high-quality educational and publishing content, requiring designers to create engaging layouts that combine text, imagery, and illustration. Key skills include proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, strong layout design, teamwork, and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines. These are all areas I have begun developing throughout my Creative Media course. For example, I have used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to design posters and digital graphics, and InDesign to create structured pitch presentations. I have also completed several group projects, improving my ability to work as part of a team, which reflects the skills required for this role.

However, this role also highlights areas where I can continue to improve. The requirement for industry experience and the ability to work efficiently under pressure is something I am still developing. To address this, I am actively building my portfolio through independent projects and coursework, focusing on improving my workflow, time management, and attention to detail. Being in my final year, the workload is very demanding and time-consuming, which is helping prepare me for similar pressures in the industry.

Specific pieces from my portfolio, such as my digital designs and illustrations, demonstrate my ability to combine visual elements effectively, aligning with the role’s focus on producing engaging page layouts. In addition, the planning documents I have included in previous work highlight my ability to plan and organise projects to a high standard. Overall, this role has reinforced my ambition to work in the creative industry and has given me a clearer understanding of the professional standards and skills I need to continue developing.
